The Produce Lady
The Produce Lady, Brenda Sutton, teaches farmers and consumers the wonders of locally grown fruits and vegetables. Not only does she share their nutritional value, she also demonstrates how to prepare them as tasty meals and snacks or preserve them to use throughout the year.
Meet The Produce Lady
The Produce Lady is Brenda Sutton, the N.C. Cooperative Extension director in Rockingham County (formerly family and consumer sciences agent). Brenda grew up on a farm in eastern Wake County and developed a love for good, home-grown food as a child. Good quality, local foods are her passion and she loves sharing healthy, nutritious ways to select, store, prepare and preserve foods from the local farmers market. She gives you easy, no-nonsense tips.
The Produce Lady effort consists of a series of videos on North Carolina fruits and vegetables and other local food products. The program includes a Web site, recipes, a bi-weekly blog, food demonstrations at farmers markets and other events and YouTube videos. The videos and other materials are produced by Leah Chester-Davis with the N.C. MarketReady Program at the N.C. Research Campus in Kannapolis.
